Acai Berry and Pregnancy
Ok. First things first. The usual disclaimer since acai and pregnancy can be a very delicate topic. Please know that whatever is on this article/website is written only for informational purposes. You are advised to consult your doctor for medical advice.
With that done and over with, here’s information regarding acai pregnancy concerns.
Are acai pills ok during pregnancy?
Acai pills are basically dietary supplements – a natural one at that. If you make sure you’re buying 100% acai capsules, it’s just like taking a very healthy fruit- which is what it really is.
When I was pregnant, I remember being told by my doctor to take folic acid (Vitamin B9) during the first three months (I didn’t know about acai yet at that time). And then multivitamin supplement afterwards.
Truth to the matter is, one of acai’s nutritious component is folic acid itself. So, you can see that the nutrients can be good for you.
There is a BIG BUT to this however.
Some acai pills are not exactly made only of acai. Depending on where you buy them from, they can also contain caffeine, maltodextrin, animal products and/or other . This is where the problem comes in. Many of the acai pills that claim to cleanse your colon or make you lose weight will very likely have some added ingredients in them. And that’s where you have to be very careful.
My advice is if you do buy acai while pregnant or breastfeeding choose a supplement that only has 100% acai.
Does Acai have any side effects while I’m trying to conceive?
As far as I know, there are no known side effects of taking acai.
